RMC Materials, part of the RMC Group – the world’s leading
supplier of ready mixed concrete and Europe’s largest aggregate producer – has
invested in advanced spray nozzle technology from BETE Ltd. The investment
provides RMC with a safe and environmentally friendly solution to effectively
eliminate the escape of airborne solids from one of its large-scale asphalt
plants in the UK.
Located on an industrial development in Erith, Kent, and adjacent to an
edible oil manufacturer, RMC was naturally keen to ensure that its facility
carefully controlled the levels of dust emitted as a by-product of its
production process. The company is committed to reducing pollution, and
once the decision was made to utilise a spraying system to combat the escape
of airborne particles, RMC began a full evaluation of the alternatives.
After extensive research, RMC found that a boundary dust suppression system
from BETE provided the perfect solution. Designing and fitting the entire
system, BETE incorporated advanced spray nozzles – together with
Uni-Spray swivel ball nozzle holders – water filters, pumps, a control
box, all electrics and solenoid valves into the application.
Ninety-one BETE TF spiral nozzles were introduced at the plant’s
perimeter. Designed to spray a very fine fog, at an atomisation level perfectly
suited to latch onto dust particles, the solution delivers complete spray
coverage together with a consistent spray pattern, critical to efficient
dust suppression.
Manufactured in hard-wearing PVC, BETE TF6FC spiral nozzles produce a 90° full
cone spray pattern and deliver 3.19 L/min of water at a pressure of 1 bar.
The one-piece nozzles contain no moving parts and provide clog resistant
performance with a high discharge velocity.
According to Clive Millard, Area Manager at RMC Materials South East, the
system has proved a resounding success. “BETE has delivered exactly
what it promised, a highly efficient solution, performing to our precise
specifications,” commented Mr Millard. “Coupled with a first-class
product, BETE has also provided unsurpassed levels of support, accessibility
and reliability. Should we require a similar solution in the future we
would, without hesitation, turn to BETE.”
